Jerry O’Neil
Jerry O’Neil was born at Kalispell, Montana in 1943 and grew up in a 2 parent home across from the family’s retail lumber yard. After graduating from Flathead High School in 1961, Jerry attended MSU Montana State University at Bozeman, University of Montana at Missoula, and FVCC at Kalispell. He has 5 children and 11 grandchildren. Jerry and his wife, Jeanne, live on Walsh Road, southwest of Columbia Falls. Jerry enjoys canoeing, fishing and hiking with Jeanne and his dog, Anne. Jerry spent a short time in Seattle, Washington, working as a tool maker and numerical controlled machine operator some times as much as seven days a week.
In 1984 Jerry successfully defended his family in court from religious extremists. As a result Jerry was invited to speak before a group of parents that were interested in improving Montana’s laws as relates to families. When a parent had their child taken to the Blackfeet Reservation, Jerry applied for and received a license to practice law before the Blackfeet Tribal Courts. That also got him started in helping families with divorces. In the same time frame Jerry started a business as a mediator and independent paralegal which he still runs today.
Jerry became involved in lobbying the Montana Legislator to improve laws affecting families. Jerry also lobbies for limiting government and wise use of our resources. Jerry successfully ran for the Montana State Senate where he served eight years till term limits. Jerry then served four years in the Montana House of Representatives giving him a twelve year history of voting for families, smaller government and freedom.
Jerry has also won a 30 year epic battle to expand the public’s right to receive help with their legal affairs from non-traditional sources.
